The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) provides the global forum for information, education and professional fellowship for those who define the leading edge and application of materials and processes advancement.
The Wichita Chapter has been one of the leading chapters of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering in the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.
The Wichita Chapter of SAMPE was formed to bring together researchers, professsionals, and students working in the field of Material and Process Engineering. The Wichita Chapter of SAMPE is the sponsoring chapter for the following colleges & universities: Wichita State University, Butler County Community College, Pittsburg State University,& Oklahoma State University.
Wichita, a city of more than 400,000 people, is the heart of industry and commerce in the state of Kansas. Known as the air capitol of the world, it is the local presence of six major aerospace companies: Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier/Learjet, Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft, and Spirit AeroSystems.

The December chapter meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Best Western Airport Inn, Knights Room.
The SAMPE Wichita Chapter presents "The Evolution of Composites in Aviation" by Kevin L. Obrachta, Associate Technical Fellow of Composites Technology for Spirit AeroSystems. Kevin will chronicle the development and advancement of composite materials in aviation from the very start to present day. He will address most of the key material developments, structures advancements, and propulsion applications.
